The Friend Who Made This Show: Why I Gave Friendship the Mic | Episode 1 đď¸
With Amy VanHaren
Welcome, welcome to the very first episode of The Yeah, No, For Sure Show!
If you find yourself in the messy middle of life - full calendar, empty tank, craving your friends who truly get you - this episode is for you. Iâm Amy, Mainer, mother, friendship architect. Iâm sharing the story of how friendship quite literally saved me in one of the hardest seasons of my life, how connecting people has always been at my core, and why giving friendship the mic feels more urgent than ever.
From the loneliness epidemic to the quiet ache of outgrowing old friendships, I talk about the beautiful, vulnerable, energizing, and sometimes heartbreaking reality of trying to find and keep your people. I get raw about the moment everything shifted - closing a decade-long business while navigating aging parents and perimenopause, outgrowing the identity Iâd built my life around, and realizing I needed friends more than ever.
Youâll hear why this isnât an advice showâand why I donât claim to be a âfriendship expertââbut rather a campfire for women who love their people and are still craving something more. I share my vision for the show: calling up my favorite humans, talking about the seasons of friendship we all move through, and making sure you never feel like youâre failing at something everyone else has figured out.
âSometimes itâll be a variety show. Sometimes itâll be a roadshow. I guarantee itâll be a shit show. Because friendship is not about perfection. Itâs about the beautiful messiness of showing up for one another.â*
In this episode, we talk about:
What it feels like to be in the âmessy middleâ of life and friendship.
The loneliness epidemic and why so many of us feel disconnected, even when our lives are full.
Outgrowing old identities, communities, and friendships - and what comes next.
How friendship can be joyful, complex, transformative, and imperfect all at once.
Why this show is designed to feel like youâre the third friend at the table.
